The Tour du Mercantour is a multi-day trek with great camping spots and lots of wildlife including marmots and ibex. Suggested stops include: Day 1: from the car park (second one up from the town of Allos) to an idyllic camping spot, well worth the detour. Day 2: a little backtracking to the path to the lake, but then further to Col de l'Encombrette (2527m) and back to the lake for a nice camping spot along a small River Day 3: around the lake and onwards to Pas de Lausson (2602m) and Col de la petite Cayolle, down to a small lake and a camping spot in the hills Day 4: to Refuge du Col de la Cayolle for a cup of coffee and the to the north, around the mountainside to a camping spot at 2556m with a great view Day 5: down the hill into the valley. Be careful on the path down nearby the waterfalls. When it's raining, it will be very slippery and dangerous to descend. Day 6: through the fields and forest back to the car
