This is a strenuous trail, so be prepared for the constant incline towards the lake. There’s no way to find a shaded area to rest, so bring a hat. The views towards the snow covered mountains are extremely beautiful - great reason to stop, take a breath. Lots of flowers (mid-July), temperatures drop as you reach the lake. After the lake the trail gets very easy, but I’d say that at this point, the most beautiful views are definitely behind you. So if you don’t make it past the lake, don’t sweat it.
