During this easy walk despite its high altitude, you will enter the mortainais and its many legends. That of the Devil's Bridge tells how the mortans were cunning not to yield to the injunctions of Belzebuth who had built the said bridge. The angry devil jostled the rocks against the bridge what you can still see today. Remarkable points on the circuit: 1 - Saint-Evroult collegiate church is in red stones, dated from the 13th century. It is the oldest monument of Mortain. There remain some vestiges of Romanesque period, in particular a superb door which recalls the memory of Saint Firmat. 2 - Saint-Michel Chapel offers a panorama of Mont-Saint-Michel in good weather and is known since the Middle Ages by pilgrims who saw the purpose of their trip. The monument dates only from the 19th century. See the orientation table. 3 - You cross the old railway line that went to Vire. It was probably linked to the old iron mine on your left.
