Hiking

We hiked this October 12, lifts were closed so we started up from town. Only one other hiker on the trail, light sniff of snow at the lakes. One section of cables and footholds but felt safe nonetheless. Bring plenty of water this time of year/ we ended up with 16 miles. Beautiful views the entire way!

First to Review

We did this hike on 7/17/19. Very hard for us (we are fit 55-year-olds who like moderate rated hikes, and this one was a little out of our league.) The trail condition is rocky and hard on the feet despite our good quality Vasque shoes. Lots of boulder and rock fields from past avalanches. Views are gorgeous, of course, as are all hikes above Chamonix. One special treat is that we saw a number of ibex (wild goats) that are endangered but not uncommon here. See a few photos I uploaded. I recommend it but only if you don't mind 2,000 ft of climbing and a rocky path. Poles a must.
