WalkingGreat!

Struggled to find the starting point as it brought us to a hotel car park initially. We started the route by parking up on a street at Clay Pit Lane then walked through a public footpath. It was a really lovely walk and the route brought us through all of the fields. Fairburn ings is a lovely little trail and and kids loved it. Would definitely do this again.

Hard to find the beginning of the route, but really easy to follow down between Ledsham and Fairburn Ings. Nice steady climbs, nothing too challenging. Varied scenery.

23/07/2020The start is through a field and today the crop was shoulder high, then through the woods the public foot path is marked in yellow. The path tends to disappear as you come up to Ledstam Hall and (community centre? ) then it is down hill without any clear pathways. Ledstam is a pretty little village with a pub and benches where you can rest and get your bearings, the trail can be a bit hard to pick up but look for the Bridle path, from there on wards you really can not go wrong. A near perfect hike, with plenty to make you stop and stare. Fairburn Nature Reserve was great although the facilities were closed do to Covid, but there are picnic benches you can use and plenty of seating areas as you go round. Coming back up wasn't as bad as i expected, even if it was slightly up hill. The weather today was a mixture of showers and sun shine so perfect walking weather.

It was a good walk but the woods at the start are VERY overgrown, please wear trousers!! This would probably be a better walk if you parked and started at the pub in Ledsham and just did the loop. We took our dog and he was able to be off the lead for the majority which is always a bonus
