Getting There

When it comes to the weekend there is nothing more enjoyable than getting out with the family and getting some exercise and fresh air! The route is a gentle circuit through meadows, woodland and fields and is absolutely perfect for all the family. The Worlds End is a beautiful old Sussex longhouse where you can refuel and rehydrate with a great choice of food and drink. The walk follows footpaths and bridleways through fields and woodlands, all of which can get very muddy in winter and after periods of rain. There are gentle gradients throughout, but nothing too strenuous. You will need to negotiate several gates plus four stiles, all of which have very large gaps alongside which should be easy for dogs to pass through. Approximate time 1 hour.

The walk starts and finishes at the Worlds End pub in Patching, which is located next to Patching Lake just north of the A27 between Worthing and Arundel. Leave the A27 at the junction with the A280, signed for Patching. At the roundabout with the sliproads just north of the A27, take the small side road called Arundel Road, heading west. You will come to the pub just a little way along on the right. The pub has its own large car park. Approximate post code BN13 3UQ.

Apart from some through housing and small length alongside main road this is wholly on country roads and paths all metalled no mud

Great now the mud had frozen but bitterly cold in places. Kids had fun though.

A pleasant walk, but exceptionally muddy in Jan. We extended the walk to include more of the Angmering Park Estate which made it more interesting. Nice to see some beautiful thatched roofs in Patching, but not a load of variety on this walk.

Nice short walk but a bit muddy doesn’t even begin to describe it. Do not attempt this without some nice tall wellies. Also the first slope is quite steep and currently a complete mudslide so may not be suitable for everyone. May try again in the summer.

It was ridiculously muddy and we got about half way and couldn’t work out where to go next. It wasn’t very clear so ended up going back after walking around for an hour trying to find the way.

Great walk. Very muddy in places but fine in wellies. Our 4 & 10years old managed it no problem

Great walk, definitely worth doing. Lots of different paths too so you can do it differently each time.

Nice route round although today it was super muddy, so ensure you take Wellies to make it round the whole way. Saw a baby deer out in the open field just past the church, horses out on a trek and plenty of birds and wildlife. Good route for children although beware if they are really small, as may need carrying on the shoulders most of the way like my 2 year old did. Will be an even better route when the pub is open.

Walking

Walk up and over hills, can be very muddy in the woods but good wooded tracks.Once out of woods there are open fields, good views and moving down onto peaceful lanes and a lovely walk through the village of Patching.

HikingGreat!

Enjoyed this walk a lot. Easy parking and if you want a quiet walk with very few people this is it. Easy underfoot except for 1 area in the woods which was quite muddy but possible to avoid. Nice and flat with a few Stiles and gates. Pub closed of course in these crazy times, but hope to return and enjoy the large pub garden that is very well socially distanced

A great little walk for a Sunday stroll. We got some great pictures walking through the maize/sweetcorn field-they are enormous!! A pleasant walk and no moaning from the kids, (11 & 7).

Nice walk, we went at dusk and saw some deer in the fields and the woods. Phone lost connection a couple of times but luckily I picked the right path. However there is a section of the cornfields where the path is heavily covered, you can get through but you can also take a right turn and walk all the way around the field which is what I done as was worried about spiders

At this time of year you walk through a corn field with the plants above your head, which is fun. The view is great above Patching and Clapham.

A lovely easy local walk and nice to go through fields and meadows and the village of Patching seeing beautiful cottages. I did this with my 2year old and 70year old mum and found it easy to follow and walk along

one of our favourite local walks and easy to extend if you want to go further. Can be muddy in winter. Beautiful bluebell woods & yellow rapeseed fields in April. The pub has a dog friendly area.
