A circular walk around Kingley Vale in West Sussex. One of the classic walks locally, Kingley Vale is managed by Natural England. From the top there are views over Sussex, Hampshire and the South Coast. Kingley Vale has one of Europe's most impressive yew forests. The forest contains yews as much as 2,000 years old, which are some of the oldest living organisms in Great Britain. During the Second World War it was used extensively for training and, despite attempts to clear it, it is not unusual to come across the odd spent bullet. The walk includes several gradients and there is one steady uphill section, but nothing overly steep or strenuous on this particular route. There are a number of gates and stiles to negotiate on the route but generally no cattle. Allow 2.5 hours.
