High Weald Staplefield Circular is a 5.9 mile loop trail located near Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options.
Best to avoid this trail if walking a dog as a lot of it is on paved roads and in areas unsuitable for dogs, which makes the walk difficult. However, for just walking without your four-legged friend, the views are spectacular.
Good variety of scenery and some nice views. As others reviewers have noted, there are several sections that are on what feels like someone’s driveway. Overall a high percentage of on-road walking which can be good in winter when other trails might be treacherous. One or two moments that felt beyond the ‘easy’ classification, especially as some handrails were damaged (November 2020)
This a great trail for autumn with the changing of the leaves. Mixing it up all along the way, the scenery varies from countryside views to woodland, working farmyards and bridged streams. As other reviews highlight, there is a lot of road walking but it’s mostly country lanes hugging fields and meadows. Would recommend !
This is the best walk I have done so far. Quite muddy across the fields but the views are fantastic. Thoroughly recommend this one!
A lot of the walk is on roads and up peoples drive ways... we ended up doing 8miles as the phone signal isn't good and we couldn't follow the map properly lol! I am glad we did it, lovely views and my daughter enjoyed the horses, but I won't be doing again as it wasn't good for the dog to be constantly on the lead. Too much road walking and live stock.
Avoid this walk if you have a dog. I’m giving this walk 2 stars purely from a dog walking perspective, as I found it in the dog walking section. I’ve been working my way through lots of them over the last few months, but this one really missed the mark. If you’re just looking for a regular walk however, I’m sure it’s great. Problems for dog walkers is that almost the entire walk if you follow the recordings are on roads, or private drive ways that share public paths - which are so posh they’re basically still just country roads. The walk starts up a public path/private drive - which gets incredibly tight where there are just 2 x concrete runners for cars to pass, if one comes - you’re in the dirt until it passes. 20 mins later you’re off the road and in fields, which have lots of livestock and signs warning for shooting season, so you can’t really let them off the lead there either - then... before you know it, you’re back on country roads again. I pressed the eject button half way and tried making my way back cross country as it really did start getting ridiculous. To summarise, If you’re just walking or have a dog used to being on a lead and that’s your thing - it’s a lovely loop with a lovely pub at the start/finish. If you have a lively dog you usually walk off the lead and relax walking with, avoid.
This is so good, the views are great and the length is just right. 100% rexommemd
Fantastic walk with beautiful varying scenery!
This was a great walk and would definitely recommend. There are a few inclines but these are steady and short lived! There is a real array of scenery from forest, fields, rivers and wildlife.
Great walk! I found this walk from this website and absolutely loved it! Lots of variation, woodland paths, rivers, dirt roads, fields. A couple of small hills, a handful of fence gates. One small section may have sheep in. Lots of pheasants and grouse (shooting season), lots of horses and a few sheep to pet en-route should they be feeling inquisitive.
