Getting There

A circular easy-access walk that follows the River Lavant back towards its source. At Binderton the walk joins the Centurion Way for the return journey. On this walk the only obstacles are three simple gates, all of which should be operable from a scooter. The walk is essentially flat except for a slope down onto the Centurion Way. Just one caveat though, and that is the paths are not all surfaced so, 'not in the winter and only in dry conditions' is the easy-access rule, as the walk can be muddy in places. There were no cattle or sheep present, but it is possible that some may be encountered between gates one and two. Allow 2 hours.

Lavant sits on the A286 Midhurst Road a mile or so north of Chichester. After entering Lavant from Chichester, lookout for the Earl of March pub on the right. Then a couple of hundred metres further, as the A286 bends to the left, turn sharp right onto Sheepwash Lane. Then at the end of a short hill, park in a lay-by on the left. The number 60 Chichester to Midhurst bus service stops adjacent to the Earl of March pub. If you take this option, once you get off the bus walk in a northerly direction for 200 metres and turn right into Sheepwash Lane. The start of the walk is at the lay-by at the bottom of the hill. The latitude and longitude of the parking area is 50.868935,-0.781435 and the nearest postcode is PO18 0FA.
