Getting There

As of May 2020, hikers report that Welsh Road is impassable due to a metal and concrete fencing. You can continue south to the canal and link back up to the Offchurch greenway instead adding about a km to the walk. A circular walk from the village of Offchurch in Warwickshire. The route is a simple loop of the Warwickshire countryside, taking in fields, pastures, lanes and green tracks with a visit to a historic church and a glimpse of the beautiful River Leam. For the middle stretch, you will enjoy the delights of The Millennium Way where you will be guided by the distinctive black Millennium Way waymarkers. The route has several steady gradients throughout. You will need to negotiate several gates and kissing gates plus 9 stiles (some of which dogs will need a lift over). There are a couple of short sections of road walking and you will be sharing some of the fields with farm livestock. Allow 3 hours. The Millennium Way is a beautiful 100 mile walk in the heart of England, from Pershore in Worcestershire to Middleton Cheney in Northamptonshire. The route was created by the 41 Club as a community project, with something to offer every walker or rambler across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. This is one of 44 circular walks, each of which incorporates a section of the Millennium Way and is published in partnership with 41 Club.

Offchurch is located about 3 miles east of Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. The walk starts outside The Stag pub on Welsh Road. Please comply with the sign in the pub's car park, requesting that walkers park in the overflow car park only. Approximate post code CV33 9AQ.

An overall good walk, although not perfect for dog walks- there are some stretches of walking along fast roads with poor or no verges so we had to carry our energetic spaniel. At one point where there was supposed to be a waypost, we couldn't find it, but using the GPS and directions, we soon got back on track. Friendly sheep in fields just outside Offchurch too!

lots of stiles some that are quite high so must be agile enough to negotiate them. In section School lane to end after passing over the small stream and taking the far left corner kissing gate the way marker is not visible. The path to take is obscured but is left at the peak of the hill.

Great walk. A good mix of fields, quiet roads (some busier roads), views etc. The directions provided are absolutely spot on, didn't have to look at the map once. As of 18th July, there is no longer ant diversion required due to HS2 works. We had no problems at all.

The return route walking west along Welsh Road is now impassable as metal and concrete fencing has been erected for HS2. You can continue south to the canal and link back up to the Offchurch greenway instead adding about a km to the walk.

Really lovely walk, taking in some stunning views (apart from the bit of road walking alongside where HS2 is destroying otherwise beautiful areas). Other than that, highly recommended.
