Getting There

A circular walk from Long Itchington in Warwickshire. The route takes you for a ramble over open fields and then enjoys a lovely extended walk along the side of the Grand Union Canal. The outward leg along the Millennium Way is clearly waymarked with the distinctive black and white circular waymarkers. The walk is relatively flat, with only very gentle gradients. You will need to negotiate several kissing gates, bridges and one stile (which should be suitable for most dogs to pass through). You will cross a paddock that is likely to be holding horses and some of the fields may be holding farm livestock (both sheep and cattle). Allow 3 hours. The Millennium Way is a beautiful 100 mile walk in the heart of England, from Pershore in Worcestershire to Middleton Cheney in Northamptonshire. The route was created by the 41 Club as a community project, with something to offer every walker or rambler across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. This is one of 44 circular walks, each of which incorporates a section of the Millennium Way and is published in partnership with 41 Club.

Long Itchington is located about 2 miles north of Southam in Warwickshire. The walk starts and finishes at The Duck on the Pond pub on the main A423 Southam Road. If you are taking refreshments in the pub it has its own car park, otherwise there is roadside parking available nearby. Approximate post code CV47 9QJ.

Lovely walk with some varied and interesting scenery. Enjoyable section if the GU canal. Take care as HS2 is coming and will cross the canal near the bridge where you join it. This may cause some disruption to the route in future.

Really easy to walk. Nice long stretch on the canal. If you wish, you can run that stretch. Long Itchington is a very beautiful village.

Started in pretty village of Long Itchington...some parts of canal path were a bit narrow but other than that a great easy walk.

Great trail, pretty muddy with some isolated over-laces puddles especially near gates- (though we have just been through 3 storms) Definitely recommend good walking boots, gaiters were useful too, if you like stamping puddles like me :) 2-3hrs Good places to stop at end

Very well described walk, didn't go wrong once, and that's without GPS. Lovely walk & scenery. A bit squelchy under foot in many places but that's to be expected in January. Plenty of pub stop opportunities in/around Long Itchington. Recommended
