Getting There

A circular walk from Stockton in Warwickshire. An attractive walk encompassing some delightful canal towpaths, mostly flat through countryside and woodland near to the lovely villages of Long Itchington and Stockton. Refreshments are available at three canal side inns, The Blue Lias Inn, The Two Boats Inn, and The Boat Inn. The walk incorporates sections of the Millennium Way, where you will be guided by the distinctive black Millennium Way waymarkers. The walk is relatively flat with just a few gentle gradients. You will need to negotiate one stile (which should be ok for most dogs) plus several kissing gates, steps and bridges. The route is mainly through arable land and on enclosed tracks, but you will cross a couple of paddocks and fields which may be holding horses or other livestock. There is one section of road walking that needs care. Allow 2.5 hours. The Millennium Way is a beautiful 100 mile walk in the heart of England, from Pershore in Worcestershire to Middleton Cheney in Northamptonshire. The route was created by the 41 Club as a community project, with something to offer every walker or rambler across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. This is one of 44 circular walks, each of which incorporates a section of the Millennium Way and is published in partnership with 41 Club.

Stockton is located about 3 miles north east of Southam in Warwickshire. The walk starts and finishes outside The Blue Lias Inn, situated by the canal on Stockton Road, between the villages of Long Itchington and Stockton. Approximate post code CV47 8LD. The pub has its own car park if you are taking refreshments. Otherwise you could adjust the walk to start in Stockton village, where roadside parking is available.
