Windlesham Village Circuit

Standing in the lay-by with your back to St John's Church, turn left to reach the end of the lay-by. Join the left-hand road pavement for a few paces, passing Cedar Court on your left and you will see Birch Hall on the right. Turn right to cross the road here and take the public brideway, passing between the gates for Birch Hall on your left and the gates for Stable Cottage on your right. Follow the stone bridleway which passes between fences and then runs downhill between holly trees. At a junction of paths, ignore the path to the left, instead keep ahead on the main bridleway. The bridleway becomes a grassy track and you will emerge to New Road.

Turn right for a few paces to reach the junction with Church Road. Turn left across the road between the traffic bollards to join the grass verge of Church Road and then turn immediately left into the driveway for Curzon House. Take the main gate (or smaller kissing gate) and follow the driveway ahead, then keep ahead passing through another kissing gate to join a fenced grass track. Go ahead through the next kissing to reach a crossroads of paths. Go straight ahead on the enclosed grass track leading you between pastures. After the next kissing gate, you will reach a junction of paths at the edge of the golf course (with a bridge ahead).

Do NOT cross the bridge into the golf couse, instead turn right to join the grass track (with the golf course running on your left). The track emerges into part of the golf course. Wait for any golfers to play their shots, then walk ahead to reach the wooden fingerpost. Turn right to join the stone footpath which soon bears left and then emerges to reach School Lane (opposite Snows Ride).

Cross over the road to reach the far pavement and turn right along this. Follow the stretch of pavement, looking out for some of the oldest houses in Windlesham, including Thatched Cottage and Coopers Green. At the next road junction, follow the main road as it bears left to become Kennel Lane. Pass the house called The Post House on your right and, a few paces later, cross over the road to turn right onto the signed footpath. Pass through the staggered barrier and follow the narrow tarmac path. You will reach a T-junction with the main track within the cemetery of St John's Church. Turn right and follow this track back to the lay-by where the walk began.
