A circular trail around the nature reserves of Whitmoor Common and Jordan Hill in Surrey. The area comprises beautiful expanses of heathland, woodland, grassland, ponds and streams. The heathland is home to a range of animals, birds and insects giving a rare habitat for night jars, dragonflies and water voles to thrive. The common is very popular with dog walkers and makes a great place to meet up with friends, but the expanse of area means that those preferring their own company can also enjoy a peaceful walk. The walk follows heath and woodland paths, some of which can get quite muddy in the winter and after wet weather so good waterproof boots are recommended at these times. There are a few steady climbs and descents and no stiles or gates. The common is used to graze rare breed cattle during the summer months so take care with children and dogs around the electric fences. Approximate time 2 hours.

Lovely sunny walk - started at The Jolly Farmer pub as car park free (Whitmoor Car Park at the start now charges). Gorgeous paths through woodland and heathland mostly dry now. A little hard to find the correct path when crossing roads as some paths seemed little used and overgrown. GPS map great though and got us in the right direction. Pub fantastic - lovely garden and dogs very welcome.

Like several other Surrey Wildlife locations, the car park will soon cost £1.30 per hour but currently is still free. Worth noting that Wild About Coffee landrover is often in car park and Phil is lovely to chat to over a drink.

Great walk. Really enjoyed it. slightly spoiled by the amount of piles of dog poo left by lazy owners.

Should imagine this would be very pretty in the summer. Very muddy and swampy in February!

Thoroughly enjoyed the walk but we did it after some heavy rain and some paths were impassable will do it again when the weather is dryer.
