pub walk

A circular pub walk from the White Hart in Chobham. The White Hart is believed to date from the 1500s, and is one of the oldest properties in the village. During the recent renovation, great pains were taken to preserve the character of such a venerable old hostelry, which is now revived and refreshed. The walking route follows the southern bank of the Mill Bourne through pleasant water meadows giving open views and a chance to see lots of meadow flowers and perhaps even a kingfisher. The return leg crosses horse paddocks and grazing pastures to join an ancient lane back to the village. The walk is almost entirely flat and the paths cross a mixture of grass meadows, paddocks, pastures and woodland and so can be very muddy in winter and after periods of rain. There are several gates plus six stiles (two of these are entirely enclosed by wire fencing so dogs may need a lift over). There is one section of road walking along a quiet lane so take care with children and beware of any traffic. Two of the fields you cross are likely to be holding grazing sheep and cattle so take care with dogs. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours.

I would not recommend this route at the moment as parts are impassable. The section along by the enclosed fields with the horses is so overgrown with nettles. We tried getting down it but had to turn back and could not find another route round. We will try it again at a different time of year.

Lovely countryside particularly liked the black sheep. If your taking a dog be careful several fields have animals in including young lambs. Also some stunning houses 2 thirds of the way round

Lovely walk. As previous mentioned 2 stiles required us to carry dog. Could not have managed with a big dog. One section in particular was narrow with nettles; red long trousers esp as they grow throughout the Summer.

Have just completed the walk this morning and agree with previous comments about overgrown sections and, at this time of year, quite muddy even though we haven't had much rain yet. That said, it's a beautiful walk in the sunshine along the side of the Mill Bourne. Took us about 1.5 hours - we parked in the public car park near the cannon as we weren't intending to use the White Hart.

Path is too overgrown to proceed past point 2 and a lot of dogs unleashed on the trail.
