pub walk

A circular pub walk from the Bletchingley Arms in Bletchingley, Surrey. The Bletchingley Arms is a warm and welcoming place with a chic and quirky style, perfect for a coffee or lunch before or after your walk. The walking route explores the countryside surrounding the village of Bletchingley, taking in the Greensands Ridge, large open pastures and small belts of woodland with glorious views to be enjoyed along the way. The route includes a few steady climbs and descents throughout. Most of the paths are unmade, crossing fields and woodland, and can be very muddy at any time of year so good boots are a must. You will need to negotiate one stile on route (with fenced surround that small/medium dogs should be able to negotiate, but larger dogs may need a lift over) plus several bridle gates, three staggered barriers and some steps. The walk crosses through a number of sheep pastures so take particular care with dogs. Approximate time 2 hours.

Lovely trail with plenty of good picnic meadows. As it hasn't rained for a while, no mud at all.

Stunning views at numerous points on this route, lots of livestock to be seen and the woodlands are lush with bluebells at this time :)

This was a great spring walk with our dog. Lots of field’s and at this time of year lots of sheep and lambs so had to keep the dog on the lead for a little bit but was lovely seeing all the animals!

Beautiful views and pretty muddy. Good variety of woods and slopes. The woods will be covered with bluebells soon but we probably won’t be allowed out by then.

Varied walk through woodland and amongst many sheep (and sheep droppings)! Nice views from the Greensand way. Very mucky conditions but enjoyable all the same.

Past oak cottages, you'll reach a sheep field, past that you'll reach a gate with a few suggestions to the way to take. When I got there, the various paths led nowhere and I simply wondered around looking for a way out. Unless you have plenty of time to figure out where the paths lead aside from the obvious nowhere don't bother. There are lots of other walks in the area that are easier to navigate.

Loved it. Lived around here for years and didn’t know any of this stunning scenery was there. Neither had I ever been in the Bletchingley Arms which turns out to be nice as well. First use of the app but will defo use more now.

Lovely walk, just enough hills to get the heart pumping but achievable for those not so fit. Great variety of views, some stunning. Recommend it.

Completed Jun 2018. Lovely walk. Only 1 stile though, not 8 as per leaflet. Others are now gates or gates open alongside. The stile mentioned in last para in sections 1 to 2 is the only one we had to 'climb'. Pub made great finish. Lovely room, good food, excellent service! ADMIN RESPONSE: Thank you for letting us know about the reduction in stiles, we have made a note in the intro to advise others. ADMIN UPDATE JUN 2018: A volunteer walker has kindly walked the route for us to take notes of exactly which stiles have been replaced by gates, so we have been able to update the walk commentary.

Pleasant enough walk which took us 1hr 45. Some of the paths were extremely overgrown with nettles and brambles so best not to wear shorts. Cows, sheep and horses en route - mind the sheep poo. The pub looked lovely and was very busy on a sunny day but we only used their facilities. Plenty of parking.
