The North Downs Way is a long-distance path in southern England which opened in 1978. It runs from Farnham to Dover, past Guildford, Dorking, Merstham, Otford and Rochester, along the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Kent Downs AONB. Despite going through one of the most built up parts of Britain, it still covers plenty of quiet open and beautiful countryside. So currently the footpath at start of walk by Royal Oak Pub is closed for repairs. No worries though as you can still pick up route by going back to main road at the Village Green- turn right - over bridge & then turn right up Kiln Lane (currently saying Road Closed). Continue up Lane to corner where you will see footpath sign on right which will lead onto route. The route itself is pretty flat and still quite muddy in a few places but quite passable with care. Walked on a misty day - so didn’t get all views that were available which I’m sure would have been lovely if ‘only we could have seen them’!!
