Getting There

From the road, climb about 500 ft to the ridge. Hike along the ridge and get great views of East Cheshire, The Staffordshire Dales, and sights such as Bosley Cloud (also a good hike), and Kinder Scout. Descend through a pasture, and follow sign left to Lud's Church. This not a physical church but a 60 ft deep chasm that was used in the 14th century as a meeting place by the Lollard sect. There is much in Wikipedia on both the Lollards and Lud's Church.

None on trails. Pubs and Tea Rooms nearby.

Drive through Upper Hulme (off the A53) till you come to road side parking. Be aware that there is a mobile traffic warden on duty and if you park outside of the marked parking area, even by a few inches, you can expect to get a ticket. It is very busy at weekends and public holidays so arriving early is a good plan.

Absolutely beautiful walk at the crack of dawn in Summer. Relatively easy and breathtaking views from the top of Hen Cloud and across the Roaches. I didn't have time to walk through Lud's Church on this occasion so only did half the route. Recommended!

Really great varied trail, the start involves quite a steep scramble up but the rest of the hike is fairly straightforward. Lots of varied sections and beautiful views. Highly recommend. Also worth taking the detour to the Ludd Church.

absolutely amazing walk, definitely worth a trip. some needs to know before you go. Dont just park on the road , you will get a ticket £35 fine its not worth it, there are laybys you can park in but of not there is a little farm where you can park in there feild for £2 all day. Take a pack lauch , perfect for sitting eating and looking out at the veiw.

Great walk ! As other reviews have mentioned , the route misses Lud’s Church which is definitely worth a very slight detour to see.

Really nice walk. Challenging at parts as lots of hills. The slight climb up the mountain at the beginning looked tough but wasn’t too bad! The trail is a bit longer than stated also but still manageable.

Beautiful walk with stunning views from the Roaches. I went a little bit off trail but managed to find my way back at Lud's Church, walking boots recommended!

If going at the trail anticlockwise, the first half has amazing views, and scenery and overall it's a great trail. The rest of it is rather dull and takes you through the main road, but takes you quickly to your car if that's what you're looking for. at the beginning of the trail the app sends you for a climb up a very steep mountainside that requires you to get on all 4s on multiple occasions. Keep in mind that if you're not into this, it can be easily avoided without any time loss by following the normal trail around the hill top

After a slight, steep detour the walk was delightful. Loved the boulders/rocks, the shapes and sizes were amazing. Loved being surrounded by them. Seeing climbers climb the rocks was also amazing!! Didn't finish the full route as was getting tired but still managed most. Reccomended to all

Beautiful views and satisfying path to follow. There isn't a huge amount of parking so I would recommend parking opposite the Ye Olde Rock Inn car park just up the road!

Gorgeous views and a nice little challenge without being too strenuous. Perfect bank holiday walk and easy to social distance due to the vastness or the area.
