Getting There

This walk takes you from Gospel End Common, through Baggeridge Woods and then up past the Wishing Pool, located in Baggeridge Park. Along the walk you will see Upper Meadow Orchard, Gospel End Common and Stone Circle, Baggeridge Woods, the Wishing Pools located in Baggeridge Park and then return to the Pay & Display car park. This walk affords views of the surrounding areas, fields, ponds and woodland. It is quite close to the historic Himley Hall, although you will not visit it on this walk. The Park has been awarded the Green Flag Award for thirteen consecutive years, and has a picnic area available. There is a tea shop, a children's play area, a miniature railway, a sensory garden and disabled toilets. Other nearby attractions include Penn Common and Himley Hall & Park. The walk is along a flat route for the most part. However, there are several gates and stiles, a couple of challenging gradients and a short flight of steps. The route can also be quite muddy in parts.

Baggeridge Country Park is located just West of Gospel End, on the A463. Leave the roundabout on the A449, signposted Baggeridge Country Park. Alternatively, take the A463 from the nearby town of Sedgely. The entrance is clearly signposted. Drive down through the woods for about 300 yards, where you'll find a Pay & Display car park - 1hr is £1.80, full day is £2.80. Telephone number: 01902 882605 Approximate postcode: DY3 4HB

Very relaxed and pleasant walks, not too strenuous, my 7 yo nephew would have managed fine, my Nan would have struggled though, especially going to the Toposcope. Take the right paths, not very well signed but they mostly all lead together at the end, one mistake of ours was a very muddy path, fun though. https://www.sstaffs.gov.uk/doc/172924/name/Baggeridge%20Country%20Park%20Trails%20%28v-ap16%29.pdf/ Toilet and shop now open, nice ice cream! All in all nice day out with many paths to walk around and explore the area. £3 to park all day and we went off site at lunch (missing the rain) to the Holly Bush Inn, been here many times for family meals, first time back since lockdown and was great; recommended https://www.hollybushinnpub.co.uk/ keeping our parking pay-and-display to go back and walk lunch off.

Lovely country park, there’s a forest though which I was a little lost due to a private property sign. Love the country park, nice cafe. The only issue is there’s wasps in the summer by the cafe, and my dog unfortunately got stung by one and had to visit the vets. They’ve dealt with COVID-19 and lockdown super amazing. They’ve limited the amount of cars and the time, which I think is very responsible and safe! Perfect for bikers and dog walkers, I’d be careful letting your dog off at times as there are busy spots. There’s two big fields, where you can let your dog off (they aren’t busy)
