This walk from Chard to Ilminster is a nice reasonably short walk which can also be cycled. It has various gradients but nothing steep. It takes in some lovely scenes of the Somerset countryside. It follows the old Taunton to Chard railway line, however no tracks remain. There are several World war 2 relics left in place for example poll boxes and tank traps as well as a machine gun nest by the bridge on the Knoll st Giles road. Approximately two thirds into the walk (coming from the chard end) is the hamlet of Donyatt with its old church and very nice pub The George which comes as quite a nice stop off before carrying on to Ilminster.
