historic site

An ancient hill fort which was the site of the last stand of Caractacus against the Roman legions. On a clear day it is possible to see the hills of north-east Wales, Birmingham, Worcester Beacon (in the Malvern Hills), and the Black Mountains, and in south Wales the Brecon Beacons.

Absolutely stunning views from the peak but not for the faint hearted as very very steep on descent. I’d recommend going right of the loop on your way round as I imagine it would be too difficult to do the left (clockwise) route. One section was completely overgrown heather over 5ft tall with stingers so was ripped to shreads on one part. Views were worth it though

Great trail, not for beginners as there are some very steep sections. We started in Church Stretton and walked over the Hills and over to The Lawley and back around the side.
