The Simonside Hills lie within Northumberland National Park on the northern-most edge of Harwood forest and have beckoned walkers for years because of their wild and rugged beauty. The range dominates the skyline forming a dramatic southern backdrop to the middle reaches of the River Coquet. The climb up the hills to the top (at 430m) is rewarded with the whole panorama of the Cheviots to the north and from the top of Simonside itself the whole Northumbrian coastline is revealed.

Warm and Rainy day, completed the route anticlockwise, Nice steady climb from the start, accompanied by stone steps towards the summit. Various types of terrains to walk along, be cautious of slippery stones. Sturdy footwear with good ankle support recommended. Verdict: Great little walk for those wanting to brush the cobwebs away wether fitness or map reading.

Very fun riding but the final elevation to the top was extremely difficult to carry the bikes up. Also rocky steps on the way down gave a flat tyre but apart from that a good, technical ride

Done this walk several times with my three dogs. We all managed it well although there are some rocky parts which are a little challenging but only for a short period and when you get to the top it’s all worth it!

Great trail; mixture of woodland and hills. Couple of sections are quite rocky paths, great views. Would recommend a stop at Rothbury afterwards, plenty of coffee shops or a couple of pubs for a cheeky drink on the way home.

excellent views of our fantastic countryside and the sunsets are spectacular. If you're into overnight camping you'll get to see some amazing night skies here too. Well worth trying it out for yourselves.
