Getting There

A circular walk from Robin Hood's Bay on the North Yorkshire coast. Beginning with a wide easy to follow path, the walk offers a good steady climb opening up magnificent views of the North Sea, the coast and Ravenscar. The more strenuous return leg along the cliff tops eventually drops into historic Robin Hood's Bay with its attractions, pubs and cafes. There's plenty of opportunity for your dog to be let off the lead safely and they are allowed on this beach all year round too. The outward leg is mainly on the track bed of the former railway line to Scarborough, the return leg along the cliff is more strenuous and includes two steep climbs using steps. There are some quiet roads to cross and the final section in Robin Hood's Bay can be busy at holiday times or weekends. There are no stiles to negotiate but you will need to use several flights of steps. Including the beach, much of this walk allows your dog a great deal of freedom to have a run and a good sniff around. Dogs are allowed all year on this beach, but please clean up. Allow 3 hours.

From the A171 Whitby to Scarborough road, take the B1447 at High Hawsker, which runs down into the Robin Hood's Bay. Alternatively, you could take the No.93 or X93 bus from Middlesbrough, Guisborough, Whitby and Scarborough, operated by Arriva Buses. There is a pay and display car park on Station Road. Approximate post code YO22 4RA. The walk starts by Fylingdales Hall at the edge of the Station Road car park.

Some hills but generally steady and incredible views! Recommend going down to the beach and grabbing an ice cream

A really nice pleasant circular walk with plenty of wildlife to see, particularly once you get closer to the coast which is also where there are a few little climbs but with steps so it’s not too difficult

Lovely walk on the coast path. Kept dog on lead as very close to the edge. Shortened the walk by going inland at Stoupe Beck Sands and following bridle path/lanes back to the Cinder Track. This meant we crossed an interesting ford (never seen one so long before)

good walk this one , do the cinder track section first if you don't want to do the very steep climbs up hill when you get to Scarborough Road, look out for the Peacock farm as well :)

Excellent walk with my family and dog. Lots of free roam space. Beware of steep open cliff edge eroding, great YHA coffee shop on beach front well worth a stopover. Easy to follow loop walk.
