My first and favourite walks. Completed penyghent numerous of times now but love the views, challenge and bit of a scramble. Great for beginners. Has become more commercialised over the years so very clear paths to follow. I do love this walk and keep going back year after year. Very busy today.

Completed today. Definitely recommend anti clockwise as others have suggested too. The wind today was very forceful and nearly blew us off a couple of times. Difficult scramble near the summit which id rather do going up than going down (if doing the course clockwise). Great walk though and very hard to go off path, it’s very easy to follow.

Good walk, great views. Done it 3 times now and it doesn’t get boring. Easy to follow due to it being in part of the very well walked 3 peaks trail. Parking hard at weekends in the summer months as car park usually full by 8am. A few verges to park on or just drive nearer to the train station and extend the walk a little. Young kids will find it tough going but it wouldn’t put me off taking them if they are tough and determined and you give them a few breathers on the way up

brilliant walk our first time up there, we went clockwise this time to gauge it for the next go. Great route, well maintained cant wait to hit it again anti clockwise for a much tougher challenge

Easy to follow trail for inexperienced walkers (myself). Completed anti-clockwise and scrambled up the last 100m or so. Definitely worth wearing decent footwear as loose underfoot.

Decided to tackle this one anticlockwise due to the difficulties it can throw at you and we wasn't disappointed. The wind was really strong so had to be careful when climbing up from the east side. All in all though it was a good day and practice to tackle the 3 peaks at the end of February.

Ok so I'm a novice. only started walking properly less than 3 weeks ago. but I managed it. hardest part is the scramble to the top, approx 2.2miles in to the walk. but i still loved it. very well kept path. cant go wrong. although I've done it in january we had a clear but windy day. even saw what looked like RAF plane training. looking forward to doing again in the summer

Good moderate walk if done clockwise, if done counter clockwise then you get the full benefit of the scrambles. Much harder done counter clockwise

Really good hike for novices. I walked this anti clockwise and scrambled up at the summit, which I found easier, then it was a relatively gentle walk down. The trail is well kept so if you’re thinking of taking this on, don’t worry about where to go, it’s very easy to navigate. When walking in colder seasons, the weather can change instantly. We had warm weather on way up, then a -3 windchill at the summit, so be prepared for anything. Good shoes or boots will give you an advantage, but not necessary (as long as it’s dry). Nice one for kids.

Nice walk anti-clockwise. Tough at the top and the last mile if you don’t wear walking boots
