A circular walk in Knavesmire, York's Racecourse in North Yorkshire. York's Knavesmire is one of the premier horse racing tracks in Europe. On non-race days, the vast grass space inside the racecourse is open for public access. It is a really sociable place for you and your dog as there are usually plenty of dogs to play with and the humans are often willing to chat too. The route is only accessible on days when horse racing is not taking place, so check the Knavesmire website before you set out. The walk is almost entirely flat with no gradients to speak of. There are no stiles, gates or steps on route. The walk follows a wide tarmac track that runs around the inside the grass race track. The route is popular with cyclists, runners and dog walkers. Please remember to clean up after your dog. You may be sharing the tarmac track with occasional racecourse service vehicles so take care with children and dogs. Allow 1 hour.
