A circular walk to the Hole of Horcum. The Hole of Horcum is a "Devil's Punchbowl" type feature which, according to local legend, was made by a giant who scooped up a large ball of earth and tossed it aside to create a nearby hill, Blakey Topping. Begin at the car park just east of the Hole of Horcum, which provides great views of the countryside. Follow the route along the moor to the town of Levisham. The Horseshoe Inn is a great spot to stop for refreshments! Keep walking along the town's main road and follow signs for the Hole of Horcum. The path slowly ascends uphill and back to the parking lot where the walk began.

Gorgeous views but ankle deep mud on most of second half of the route. I’m going to wait for weather to improve before I do it again!

Great trail. Very wet & windy plenty of inclines and declines to get the blood pumping to keep you warm.

This is a nice walk to do. It can get a little muddy in the woods after rain. There are also a few places that the track was under water, so a small detour was needed. Pet hate. There are multiple signs up warning about putting dogs on leads . It is really not practical on some of the paths. The law states 'keep your dog under close control' in public areas or with animals. That makes sense, keep it to heel or if not possible then put the dog on a lead. It is total nonsence to suggest all dogs are dangerous off lead. The amount of rubbish seen on the trail would suggest humans should be under better control. !

Walk from Hole or Horcum car park, to needle point and back. Lots of ascent and descent, but worth it. Views from needle point are beautiful. Lots to do and see on the way including crossing the North Yorkshire moors railway.
