A circular walk from Glasshouses in North Yorkshire. This fairly long walk can be done in two stages with a refreshment stop in Pateley Bridge along the way. Part one from Glasshouses to Pateley Bridge takes you on a riverside journey into the market town, before heading up into the fields and green lanes of Nidderdale. The circular part returns to Pateley Bridge before retracing the outward route back to Glasshouses. This walk is especially for you if your dog likes a little swim along the way. It also offers loads of fresh air, good exercise and great views of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The route follows medium terrain with some uphill walking on enclosed green lanes, fields, tarmac paths and quiet roads. There are no stiles and just some gates plus one high stonewall gap with stone steps up to negotiate. There is some walking on quiet roads and tracks. As this is the Dales you need to keep an eye out for sheep and cattle, as well as game-birds in season. There are plenty of opportunities for a canine paddle or swim and the enclosed green lanes and quiet fields allow plenty of off lead time for well-behaved dogs. If you prefer, you can shorten the walk by starting and finishing in Pateley Bridge. Allow 3 hours for the full walk, or 2 hours if you are starting in Pateley Bridge.
