A circular walk from Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire. If you want a walk with a sense of wild freedom, where your pooch can enjoy extensive time off the lead on long grassy tracks and paths, this is the one for you. In spite of the title, there is little time spent in the actual forest. Most of the walk is in peaceful open countryside with great views of the North York Moors and the almost other-worldly Bridestones. The route is mainly on easy to follow tracks and green paths, with an uphill climb at the start. You will need to negotiate a set of stepping stones and there are two stiles along the way, which smaller dogs will be able to squeeze under but larger dogs will need a lift over. Apart from a short section along a quiet, single-track road, well-behaved dogs can be off the lead virtually all the way around. Most of the route is livestock free, but one field may be holding cattle. Suggested map OS Explorer Map North York Moors Eastern Area OL 27. Allow 2.5 hours.
