Getting There

This is a circular easy access walk from the village of Nocton in Lincolnshire. This route highlights the village, including artwork, the cricket ground and church, as well as exploring a wide stretch of countryside to the east, with patches of pretty woodland, open fields and a section of the historic Car Dyke. This walk is published through a collaboration with the North Kesteven District Council to inspire more people to enjoy the landscape, ancient woodland, historic buildings and charming villages. The walk is relatively flat and follows a mixture of village pavements, tarmac access tracks, grass footpaths and stone farm tracks. The paths are all well-made but can be muddy in winter and after periods of rain. There may not be any livestock or obstacles on route. With this in mind, the route would be suitable for rugged push chairs or rugged disability buggies when the paths are dry. Please remember the Countryside Code. Some paths are provided by kind permission of the landowner, please only use the way marked paths. Please keep dogs under control where young stock may be present. OS Map Explorer 272.

Nocton village is located on the B1202 road, about 7 miles south-east of Lincoln. The walk starts and finishes from Nocton Village Hall and Social Club on Main Street. If you are coming by car, the hall has its own car park which walkers are welcome to use. Approximate post code LN4 2BH. If you are coming by public transport, there are bus stops directly outside the village hall on Main Street. For information on bus transport, call Traveline on 0871 2002233 or visit www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/busrailtravel.

Excellent walk, went slightly longer route at 8k but well worth it with loads of wildlife and pleasant people along the way.

WalkingGreat!

Nice walk and fine for our all terrain buggy. Drove over to Hanworth Country Park for some lunch afterwards. Even though there is a fixed sign saying the car park is for the walks, there are printed notices everywhere saying parking is for the hub only so we just parked on the road

Good walk, shame that it instructs you to park in the hall car park, we was greeted by an angry lady at the hall, who was standing in her empty car park, insisting we parked elsewhere as it is for hall users only. We thought maybe there was an event on, and she needed the spaces so we parked on the road and as we returned past the car park it was still empty!

Lovely walk with easy to follow directions. Was concerned about parking at the village hall though as there were signs everywhere saying parking for village I hub only.

Lovely views and something different to look at along the way ... shame you can’t get into the Old Nocton Hall Military Hospital to explore...
