Stathern and The Woods is a 6.9 mile loop trail located near Stathern, Leicestershire, England that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options.
Head out of Stathern and past the church before heading along the path leading to Combs Plantation. From here you pass through the Plantation before following a footpath passing broadly along its eastern perimeter. At the junction with Toft's Lane, turn right and follow the track until it joins Belvoir Road. Walk along the latter until you reach a crossroads. Turn left here and then join the Jubilee Way towards Reeded Cottage. Here, effectively double back on a lower track before rejoining Jubilee Way as you pass through areas designated on the OS Map as Barkestone, Plungar and Stathern Wood. Eventually the path reaches Toft's Lane where you will turn right and follow the track back into Stathern village and well-earned refreshments at the Red Lion PH.
Muddy but great fun. Simple to follow and lots of alternative options. Great for the dog except for the occasional horse rider
This was a good walk, which on a good day you could see for miles however we had issues following the route, which at one point was telling us to go where there wasn't a path and then through private land. I believ the route taking you on circular route on public footpaths would be far shorter. Despite these issues and the weather this was a good walk. Shame there wasn't a pub at the end but I guess lockdown is to blame for that.
Halfway along ,the trail has strictly prohibited signs up and you are unable to follow it ,very disappointing . The trail as far as reedings cottage was mostly very nice with good views a shame about the road walking bit which was fairly busy, but like I say after reedings cottage the trail had strictly prohibited signs across it which looked fairly new , so only option was to go back the way you had come , so not a loop trail
