A circular walk starting and ending at the Bosworth Water Trust near Market Bosworth in Leicestershire. A mix of undulating fields, riverside track and canal towpath. The walk has a few gentle slopes and the paths across fields can get muddy. You will need to negotiate some steps and several stiles along the way.
From M42 J10 head south through Twycross for about 6.5 miles. Turn left into Bosworth Road for a further 2 miles, the Water Trust Car Park is signposted on the right. There is a parking fee per car which varies according to the season and day of the week. Approximate post code CV13 6PD.
Lovely walk in general. Don’t park in the Water park car park - very expensive! We parked in a residential area nearby and picked up the train easily enough. First part along the main road is pretty hairy - be very careful if you have dogs or children. Other than that the River was beautiful as was the canal. We saw hares, pheasants and birds of prey in the farmers fields too. Would definitely do again but look to avoid the first mile on the main road
We arrived at Bosworth Water Park but took a tip from another review and parked in a lay-by for free on Bosworth Road and parked there. There is a footpath marker in the lay-by so we started our walk from there. Although app says 11k, our devices measured it at 11 miles so be mindful of that. Stopped at Horse and Jockey pub half way round which was a lovely resting stop with friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars but 1 Mile was along a fast road without pavements, although this wouldn’t stop us doing it again. Crops/grass was long so wear trousers rather than shorts. Have fun!
What a lovely trail. Reservoir, forest, fields, and lanes. I recommend a stop over in the Melbourne Hall cafe.
Farm friendly walk, parked in a lay-by which gave access to the public footpath. Then a circular walk following a clear stream up to the canal. We took the footpaths back across the fields rather than heading to the marina, as that would have taken the last part of the walk along the main road (no footpath). Plenty of wildlife including a couple of beautiful buzzards.
