A circular walk in the North Downs, close to Wye village and within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The route follows a stretch of the North Downs Way with outstanding views and passing the famous hillside chalk crown figure, before dropping down into the beautiful village of Wye, once featured in the BBC TV show, The Perfect Village, and voted as the third best place to live in the UK in a 2013 newspaper review. Beyond the village, the route follows peaceful paths through arable farmland before climbing steeply up the chalk grassland of Wye National Nature Reserve to complete the journey. The route has several climbs and descents, including one steep final climb back up to the top of the downs. The paths are mostly unmade and, while often firm after dry periods, they can be very muddy after periods of rain and in winter. There are no stiles on route, but you will need to negotiate some gates, kissing gates, squeeze chain gates (which should be fine for all but the broadest of dogs) and steps. The stretch along the North Downs Way crosses the nature reserve and some large hillside pastures which can be holding cattle and/or sheep, so take care with dogs. The whole route is well-walked, but there are a few stretches that are narrow and so are prone to becoming a little overgrown. There are shops, pubs and other facilities in the village, half way round. Allow 2.5 hours.

This is a beautiful trail, albeit not for the mobility challenged. The views are spectacular once you've walked through some back roads. It takes a little while to get to the views but it is worth it. As you're walking through farms, expect to wear shoes you're happy to walk through droppings in! In the end, there is around 100 steep steps to get down which was difficult for someone who needs a walking stick. Not my favourite, but one of my favourite trail views.

Really lovely walk! couple of bits were a little overgrown or narrow but not much! it was clearly signposted and easy to follow. poppies were out for me today and the skylarks accompanied me along by the crown. Kestrels out hunting and butterflies everywhere. Clear day so I was rewarded with a brilliant view...I could see all the way to Hastings once I climbed the mammoth hill back up toward the car park. Beautiful morning walking!

Undoubtedly the very best views of the Kent countryside - even on an overcast day! Stunning views, plenty of birdsong and lots of beautiful wildflowers - and some surprises along the way! Steep start and finish will get your heart pumping - but lovely stop midway for lunch in Wye Coffee and Kitchen! Would really recommend this trail.
