Regional Cycle Route 12, known as the Tudor Trail, runs from Tonbridge Castle to Penshurst Place in Kent. It offers an excellent ride from the heart of Tonbridge alongside the River Medway, out into the countryside to the glorious buildings of Penshurst Place.

Fantastic ride through the countryside even if my bird wound up in a thorn bush!

Have completed the cycle path into Penshurst Place twice in the last couple of weeks. Straight forward ride from Tonbridge park, through Barden Lake. A bit of road biking leads you to another off road pathway that takes you through to Leigh, and from there to Penshurst. It’s not too challenging, except the bug hill at the end as you get into Penshurst. Two minor hills before then. Anticipate doing this a lot more over the coming weeks to build up my stamina and endurance. Takes about 2 hours from Tonbridge park; probably a little less. Combination of off road and on road biking.
