Experience some fantastic views along the high chalk cliffs at the edge of the North Downs which form part of the famous White Cliffs of Dover. Starting at the entrance to the White Cliffs Visitor Centre, the marked route follows around Langdon Hole and Fan Point towards South Foreland Lighthouse. Built in 1843 to mark dangerous offshore banks and also used by Marconi for the first successful trials in radio navigation, the Lighthouse is open to the public between April and October.

Absolutely gorgeous views of the White Cliffs and port of Dover. Trail is quite muddy in some parts, and can be a bit tricky when it comes to steps, but it was well defined and easy to navigate.

I absolutely love this trail. I have walked here many times. The views are breathtaking. During clear weather, you can see the other side of the Channel. On the top, you have a restaurant serving some simple but delicious food. At the end of the walk, there is a Lighthouse where you can sit down for a nice hot drink and freshly baked scones as well as cakes. Please check times as over Autumn/Winter times are limited. Some months the Lighthouse is closed, some ia open only weekends. I noticed, the earlier you go, the less people are there. Especially during warm weather. This is an easy walk for the whole family.

Drive passed the recommended paid car park along Upper Road. your pass a monument on the left, then a mud layby on the right. park here and follow the stone road to the lighthouse via the cliff. for an essay alternative, I take the dog on muddy days takes about 60 minutes. hopefully, this will help the less energetic and save some money.

Beautiful trail. My group started early, around 7am, and we only saw a few other people. We walked down to see the wreck and then continued to the lighthouse. This could be done by many skill levels, but I’d recommend good shoes. The path down to the wreck could give you a twisted ankle pretty easily. Highly recommended!

An excellent trail for beginners...it's beautiful and scenic enough to not give up. I am a big girl but I was able to manage this just fine. would recommend good walking shoes and tying your hair up...the wind kept blowing my hair in my face...

the views along the route are amazing with great views of dover castle and the white cliffs along the way. the hike isnt too difficult and you can continue hiking past the lighthouse if you would like to spend some more time on the hike. it is about an hour or so to the lighthouse and another back plus time to sit and take pictures. overall a good hike with interesting scenery there is a shipwreck you can see on the shore that is pretty cool as well.
