Started at Otford station and walked in reverse so we could enjoy a well-earned cream tea at the Pond Cafe in Otford at the end. Some great scenery and nice varied walk over hills, across fields and through farms. Surface quite uneven in places and steep hills made it challenging, but easy enough enough in trainers in summer. Would recommend boots in Winter for sure. Note: whilst this route is named ‘Otford circular’, it’s actually more of a square

We took a detour by Way Point 16 after seeing a 'Bull in Field' sign and 3 kids who were not keen to take the risk! Continues on along the lane (Magpie Bottom) then turned right onto Birchin Cross Road adding about 1km to the total.

Loved the trail but would have liked if it showed us or warned us about the bulls in a field we didn't mind going the extra 800 metres but would have liked a warning. Great indications and directions though .

A perfect walk into woods and countryside near London. We followed a walk from our book adding an extra couple of kms at the beginning! Perfect for a day in the nature out of London

hmmm, I would say it was just alright, and do it counterclockwise. last quarter was boring, straight walkway with lots of people on it and not very interesting

Great walk in the sunshine and fairly easy to socially distance at the moment. The path from Otford to Shoreham is a bit narrow in places so letting people past can be difficult but not impossible, the rest of the route is wide paths/open spaces so you can easily walk without getting too close to people. The car park in Otford is open (pay and display) and the cafe on the corner is doing takeway. The main issue is toilets as the public ones are still closed.

Nice walk, especially in the summer with views of green valleys though most of the middle of the walk. Yes parts are steep but fine is you’re fairly fit!

Difficult walk but very satisfying with a lot of variety! We were surprised that this wasn’t labelled as a difficult walk but it was very muddy so maybe that made it harder than normal. Would definitely recommend!

Gorgeous, within easy reach of London, very muddy if it's rained recently but I little bit of mud never hurt anyone.

Great walk, quite hilly in some parts. Would have been good to know there were large cattle in an open field on the track!! We had to go through the bushes quietly and over a barbed wire fence to get out. Wrong place at wrong time i suppose. Other then that, really enjoyed it.

A great walk. Was a little concerned from a comment regarding the access to the trail being over grown, but this really was no issue at all. Some unexpected great views of London in the distance. Muddy in places so definitely more a boots walk than shoes. There was the odd section on the road, which wasn’t ideal with the dog but thankfully these was short. Some good opportunities for “pub grub” stops in either Shoreham or Otford itself. Highly recommended.

Great walk, but worth noting that the Forge House Restaurant right at the start is now called the Hilal Restaurant.

Great first-time hike. Navigation is straight-forward (literally) but the trail is varied and offers beautiful views. A small tip for anyone interested: I arrived at Otford station and walked the trail clockwise, however I would do it counter clockwise next time! That way you end at a small cafe/pub near the station and can get a drink before heading back :)

HikingOver grown

This trail has been my go-to since moving to London, but last time I was there, a few weeks ago, it was dangerously overgrown. Should have brought my own tools to cut down as I tried to proceed. A more frustrating than pleasant experience. Would love to report if anyone knows how a hiker goes about doing this to local persons in charge of trail maintenance.

A short walk that takes you through pastures, woodlands, fields of corn and barley, cow grazing lands. It is really beautiful. We've finished in The Bull, a lovely pub with a garden at the back.
