This is a walk along the Saxon Shore Way on coastal fringe of the Garden of England where fishing and boat building have been a way of life for centuries. Other traditional industries, such as brick making and gunpowder manufacture, have also left their mark on the landscape.

This trail is a mixture of excellent foot paths with river estuary views and wild flowers to trails across farmland where markers are few and far between. Depending on the time of year (we walked this mid-May) stinging nettles over grow some of the kissing gates making it almost impossible to pass unscathed - don’t wear shorts!! Amazing route to watch and listen to the wildlife that surround you ... feeling privileged.

Great easy walk

Excellent marshland walk and St. Mary’s was a hidden gem. Easy to get off trail though once off sea wall, so care required.
