Getting There

A circular pub walk from Ye Olde George Inn in East Meon. A delightful, scenic and undulating mid Sussex walk with great views to the South Downs. Open downland, wooded paths, quiet lanes and the chance of seeing red kites. The paths are a mixture of field edge paths and stone tracks, some of which can get very muddy after wet weather. There are several slopes throughout and you will need to negotiate 5 kissing gates and 2 stiles. Approximate time 80-100 minutes.

The walk starts and finishes at Ye Olde George Inn on Church Street in East Meon. East Meon can be accessed via the A3 or the A32 and is about 4 miles west of Petersfield. Approximate post code GU32 1NH.

Great walk with some lovely views. Fairly easy but there are some inclines and steady descent's.

The views were lovely, but the way points were very confusing taking the joy out of the walk, especially at the start.

The walk is really lovely but the directions from 'Waypoint 3' Metal gate to South Downs way bear no resemblance to route! Without the app for this or you will not find your way following the directions given. Here's my rewrite that will hopefully help if you do this walk without the app: 3. Metal Gate to Southdown's way. Head up the hill with the fence on your left. You will come to a style in front of you which you go over. There is a style almost immediately to your left. Go over this and then turn right to continue uphill with the fence now on your right. Keep going ahead and continue on to the hedge boundary infant of you with a line of telegraph poles on the same boundary. You will see a style and gate. Cross the style onto a path. I hope that helps some people. :)

A very enjoyable walk starting from a very nice village with a pub that we've visited previously but due to Covid-19 we couldn't enjoy the hospitality today. Once leaving the village we saw a grand total of 4 people and 2 dogs in 90 minutes, absolutely perfect. An easy to follow trail thank you. Agree that it's a moderate walk with 1 steep incline that is well worth the effort as there are lovely views back to East Meon Highly recommend this walk especially once the pub is open as the food and drink are very good

Lovely walk. Not to tricky. I took my dogs, do be careful as my pooch has come home with really ichy feet, even after a wash.

Lovely walk with great views. Climbs up on quiet footpaths bordering open, rolling (but steep) fields from East Meon to the South Downs Way. Dog friendly gates & stiles but bring a lead (as there are sheep in some fields). Our first “five star” walk (but the beautiful weather helped!)

Beautiful walk great views. But some steep climbs so bring some extra air. Great day out good beer at the pub in the end.
