pub walk

A circular pub walk from the Leather Bottle in Mattingley, Hampshire. The Leather Bottle is a classic old village inn, providing relaxed comfortable surroundings for refreshments before or after your walk. The walking route is really delightful with chance to enjoy a pretty avenue lined with lime trees, open fields, the banks of the beautiful River Whitewater and a spectacular timber-framed church. The walk has just a few gentle climbs and descents throughout and some of the field paths can be quite muddy after rain and in winter. There are several stiles along the way and these could be a challenge for less able people as some are quite tall and others are a little rickety and unstable. All the stiles do, however, have open fence surrounds which should be easy for most dogs to pass through. There are a couple of sections of road walking so take care of any traffic. A couple of the fields are large open pastures and, there’s a chance you may come across cattle here. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours.

Easy walk after a big lunch in the pub. Varied scenery ranging from rivers, old church, beautiful old houses and vast open fields growing potatoes

Really lovely trail with very easy instructions. We walked it with our children (7 and 4) with only having to carry the 4yr old from time to time. Also note with regards to previous review and the gun club. The sign on trail advises to signal to club and they'll blow whistle and cease firing. That work perfectly and we simply crossed the field.

Great day to do this walk and the pub at the end. Good walking well marked and described, a little muddy in places but not a big deal

Unfortunately abandoned walk as camberley clay shooting club were set up across the footpath (red flags flying etc) and no alternative route available. Avoid Sunday mornings when shooting is on I guess.

A beautiful walk with the stunning village of Dipley, ancient church and lovely pub at the end. At the beginning of Bartlett’s Farm the stile is now a gate. Will add photo. ADMIN RESPONSE: Many thanks for letting us know, we have updated the guide.

Nice little walk. Some beautiful houses I couldn't afford. Sat and made a tea in the church yard.
