This walk starts in Keyhaven on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park. The Keyhaven Nature Reserve covers just about 500 acres extending towards Lymington which protects local fauna and flora. This walk takes you on an amazing coastal scenic walk to one of the most iconic landmarks, the Hurst Castle (built between 1538-1540). It was one of the fortresses built by Henry VII and the views from the castle are amazing. This is an easy walk on mostly flat terrain. Once you get to the castle, make sure to explore and take in the sights.

Walking

Nice walk, especially as the sun was shining. The 7km felt more like 10 to my legs, as the walk was almost totally on shingle! Lovely views.

Walking

Very nice walk for hot day as nice breeze. Couple of hours with a stop for ice cream. 4.5 miles. On all trails app but can’t get lost and got to walk back same way. A lot of kayacks and paddle boards, fishing and quite a lot of people on beach.

We live locally and this is our favourite walk come wind or sun. A beautiful easy walk along a stoney spit connecting to Hurst Castle. You can walk all around the outside of the castle though you have to climb over a tall groyne using the ladder. Take a book and a nice lunch and sit by the castle.
