A circular walk across a beautiful section of heathland within the New Forest starting from the village of Burley. Roaming with the famous New Forest ponies you'll follow the paths through the heath alongside Shappen Bottom before following a short section of an old railway and then returning via Shappen Hill. There are no stiles or gates and the climbs and descents are all quite gentle. The heath paths will be muddy after wet weather and you will share them with free roaming ponies and cattle. As with any area of heathland take care with dogs to avoid disturbing ground nesting birds and adders. Approximate time 1 hour.

Very pleasant New Forest walk. It's quite wet underfoot in February but passable. Enjoy!
