Getting There

A circular walk of byways and field tracks, starting near Burkham in Hampshire. It starts with a path through part of Home Farm which is 338 acres of woodland and open grassland owned by the Woodland Trust. The walk then continues through fields to the village of Bradley where it joins part of the long-distance Three Castles Path to Lower Wield. Just after Lower Wield there is a short road section (with a pub if you need refreshment) and then a byway leads to the Ox Drove Way which takes you back to Home Farm. The route is well away from major roads so is very peaceful. Most of the walk is on the flat with some gentle slopes. There are some very short sections of quiet road but mainly the route is on byways or along field edges. Many of the tracks were muddy after wet weather. There are various gates including kissing gates - and although there were a few stiles, all of those had adjacent, unlocked, five bar gates which could be used instead. Allow 2.5 to 3 hours.

Burkham is a hamlet with access from the A339 Basingstoke to Alton road. If you are coming from Basingstoke, about a mile after the turn for Lasham there is a right turn signposted Burkham and Bradley. Follow the signs for Burkham and you pass in front of Burkham House. Eventually Home Farm Car Park South is on your right '€“ this is the starting point for the walk. Approximate postcode is GU34 5RP.

Lovely walk. Great views very peaceful and very easy walking. For me the best place to start the walk is at the Yew tree pub as the last 20 minutes of the walk are a bit boring. But all in all a great walk! Will do this again.

Calling this walk moderate is slightly ambitious, there are very few inclines and these are not steep so I believe this is an easy walk, nothing to strenuous. As you leave the car park during the first segment be careful where you tread as there are quite a few presents left by our canine friends. Overall a lovely countryside walk with some nice views.

Walking

Excellent walk along Hampshire byways. It travels through the small village of Bradley with its duck pond and onto Lower Wield where you pass very pretty country cottages. Trial in good condition with small section where vegetation makes it tight fit and one fallen tree easily passed.

Definitely not 10.5k. Got to the pub around halfway and had covered 8km. Lots of nice scenery but very muddy whilst raining.

Lovely walk on an autumn day. Great views and nice lunch half way round at the Yew Tree. Mostly dry underfoot apart from the path south of the car park.

Great walk, with great views on pleasant rolling hills, just the chirping of birds for lots of it. Lovely pub to stop at for a refresh! Thanks again, another great suggestion.

Nice walk, fairly flat, wet underfoot at the beginning and end, all paths were easy to follow apart from one field where we just went round the edge rather than straight across.
