A circular walk from the village of Burghclere in Hampshire. This is a particularly peaceful walk, given its proximity to the A34 and the town of Newbury. The route follows bridleway tracks through woodland, plus paths across fields and you will also discover a few beautiful estates along the way. The walk has several climbs and descents throughout, but there are no steep sections. About a third of the route is on surfaced pavements and tracks, with the remainder following unmade paths, some stretches of which can get muddy at times. There is one short stretch along a quiet road. You will need to negotiate several gates plus one stile (that has a gap underneath that most dogs should be able to fit through). Most of the route is on enclosed paths, but you will need to cross two grass pastures. These were empty when we walked (in December) but they may be holding grazing cattle in the warmer months. Allow 2 hours.

We did this walk today (March 1) and it was absolutely superb. It is a good mix of tracks, field paths with lots of open views and attractive woodland. We saw wild daffodils and snowdrops in the wooded sections. There was some mud but it was easily negotiable. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Many thanks!
