Symonds Yat Rock and Peregrine Path Circular is a 7.9 mile loop trail located near Coleford, Gloucestershire, England that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and backpacking.
Parking and toilet facilities available at the start (and finish)
In our opinion we are so glad we did the route anti-clockwise. However, be aware that the path on the climb up to the Yat is shut off and no longer useable so required some uphill scrambling for an alternative. Might not be an issue if you park up the top but we parked by the river.
Varying from eagle high views from Symonds Yat, to riverside rapids, to off-road forest tracks, this trail offers a range of wildlife, countryside, and geography, as well as an all round great walk. We did this trail anti-clockwise to walk along the riverside first. Pay and display parking at Symonds Yat car park, with plenty of facilities and a cafe/shop.
One of my favourite trails. I park at Saracens Head and start there. I head up to Symonds Yat Rock first to enjoy the view and then follow the walk through the forest and then back down the track to the river to get a perfect mix of views and scenery. It’s a gorgeous peaceful walk.
