This circular walk takes you above the pretty Cotswold village of Great Barrington in Gloucestershire, through the organic farmland of the Great Barrington Estate, with the song of skylarks providing the soundtrack for the walk. It is a very easy to follow route, allowing you to stride out and focus on the rolling countryside. The terrain is made up of gentle slopes, there are no steep ups or downs. The route follows well signposted footpaths and bridleways, generally good going underfoot with grassy verges to hop on to if the path has been churned up by tractors and become very muddy. There are no stiles and 4 gates, several of which are often open. There are two short stretches of quiet road walking with grassy verges. The route crosses mixed farmland and you are likely to meet sheep and cattle. There are no refreshments in the main part of Great Barrington. There is a pub just south of the main village alongside the River Windrush and a pub in Great Rissington if you want to extend the walk about a mile beyond Waypoint 2 (about the half way point). Allow 2 to 2.5 hours for the walk.

Excellent walk in great countryside. Note if following on an OS based GPS - the paths on the ground do not align with the OS maps (landholder changes to protect wildlife zones). GPX track for this walk, and map is correct!!

Easy enough to follow. Gentle rolling hills. Not much of a view. Skylarks in full song.
