A beautiful walk from Salcott-cum-Virley around Old Hall Marshes, part of the Blackwater Estuary RSPB reserve. The reserve comprises extensive grazing marshes with brackish water fleets, reedbeds, saltmarsh and two off-shore islands, covering 1500 acres. This walk could be extended to 8 miles if you go around the sea defences.

What a lovely walk this turned out to be! Bit dubious after the previous days of rain but we went anyway. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, who would have thought it was early November... Beautiful views, very tranquil, and if birds are your thing the myriad was amazing. Geese flying south enjoyed a little stop off too. It was quite bizarre seeing geese and cows sharing a field. The walk was easy and fairly short but the option to extend the walk around the nature reserve was there. I would definitely go back, hopefully on a less muddy day.
