A circular walk from Huggate that passes through dry valleys created around 18,000 years ago at the end of the Ice Age. These valleys, known locally as dales, are one of the highlights of the Yorkshire Wolds and lie between largely arable fields. The first half of the walk follows the Yorkshire Wolds Way and passes the Huggate Poetry Bench, one of several art works created for the WANDER project. There are some moderately steep descents and ascents into and out of the dales, and the paths are a mixture of field edges and tarmac drives. There are kissing gates and field gates on the route, but no stiles. One field is marked as a bull field and horses may be present in another (a road detour can avoid the horses). Allow three hours to enjoy the tranquility of the dales.
