Kinder Scout and Mam Tor Circular is a 10.7 mile loop trail located near Hope, Derbyshire, England that features a waterfall and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
Kinder Scout and Mam Tor definitely has one of the best views in England. Located in the Dark Peak area of the National Park this place has an amazing scenery and varied terrain. The climb up the waterfall is amazing, well worth the trip just for that. The views of the snow crest mountain ranges are just spectacular. Descending the waterfall can be quite tough especially as it can get incredibly slippy and coated in ice. Possible to get there by public transport from Edale station and you will see lots of natural scenery along the way too. Highly recommend.
Parking and toilet facilities available at the starting point
Start at Edale station if you are getting there by public transport.
Wicked little walk. Great for dogs. Gets windy up the top so take a nice jacket
Very enjoyable, the waterfall climb was very gradual. Once up and amongst it the tracks were clear and easy to follow. It was hit and miss with the visibility, when the views made themselves apparent they were fantastic. I edited the route to get to the peak of Kinder Scout and Low. There are some heli ops ongoing for path repairs, while they were letting hikers through I can imagine in future as the operation progresses this may be something worth looking into in your planning phase.
Wow. Picked a day for it. Third time I’ve been here in as many months and the weather was relentless. Some really deep mud in places so watch your step
Unfortunately the low hanging fog and wintery conditions hampered the views of the valley however this was still a fantastic hike. The snow and ice added to the challenge. You definitely need to take the anti clockwise route especially in adverse weather conditions.
I'll start by saying that the night before there was heavy snow fall, which caused its own challenges. The climb up the waterfall is amazing, well worth the trip just for that. The views of the snow crest mountain ranges where spectacular. Managed another two miles past the climb before deciding to turn back, as the trail was becoming increasingly difficult to follow and I was loosing light fast. Decending the waterfall was not as enjoyable, especially as the trail was now incredibly slippy and coated in ice. Will certainly be planning another trip to complete when the weather clears up a little.
Parts of the walk are challenging but overall quite steady, enjoyed it.
Amazing trail. Definitely do it anti-clockwise. Scramble at the start is great fun, once we reached the top and walked for a mile there was a couple of good spots to have some lunch. Which is a good idea as it’s a long walk around the second half but was beautiful as you can see both sides. Easy route to follow although I did use the app a coupe times. Can’t wait for next time
