HikingGreat!

This is a lovey walk around the reservoir. Spectacular views and loads of history. Does get very busy so get there early for parking. One side of the reservoir is a road and the otero is a lose stone path but both reasonably flat. Not many inclines and not that steep.

Too easy. All road round the lake. No big surprises and never lose the view of the water.

Walking

Classic route. Bang on 10 miles. Not too hilly, so can be hammered out after a long day at work. Can usually get parked quite easy, although it can extend the walk a little depending where you get a space.

Not the best for bike riding as one side of the reservoir was road only, the paths wouldn’t be wide enough for walkers and cyclists. Great views though. Bring change for the car park, it’s £3 for two hours and £5 all day (July 2020).

Great walk, lots of solid paths. No where near 5 hours! Took us just over 3, including a stop for food. Elevation was about 580ft for us, but no very steep sections so very accessible. Was quite busy even with the bad weather so can imagine would be hell on a hot day. Definitely arrive early for a car parking space and bring coins!

Nice easy walk, very good paths - mostly roads and gravelled trails, so really good for days when the. weather isn't so good and you don't fancy being stuck up on the moorland in the middle of a cloud and horizontal rain. I was lucky that it was pretty quiet when I went because it had just rained. I can imagine it normally is extremely busy. ALSO - the elevation gain listed here is wrong, it's actually about 300m. There aren't any really big hills. There are some really love lovely views, despite not being high up!

A very nice long loop trail, primarily along tarmac, with alternative trails signposted along the way and great views over Derwent Reservoir. BE AWARE, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY BUSY TRAIL, VERY HIGH TRAFFIC.

Lovely walk! It is a long walk so make sure you set off with plenty of daylight time, snacks and a good pair of walking boots
