Lovely walk, this can be accessed by food from Coniston or you can park right next to it for those with disabilities or not into walking. I came later in the evening but it was still beautiful as the light went down.

WalkingGreat!

Nice easy walk with some great views. There's also a few trails off the main path to explore if you so wish, Inc a good waterfall, but that takes you through woodland and as such is only for the able bodied.

HikingGreat!

Excellent walk! Took my 3 year old and he really enjoyed it, challenging at the start climbing the rocks (slippery as it had been raining) but great walking next to several waterfalls which you can get really close to. Walking around the Tarn was great, nice and flat with great scenery. Highly recommend this walk for all abilities

Walking

Lovely easy trail that loops around the Tarn. We parked at the small Glen Mary Bridge national trust car park (pay and display cash only, or pay on the app but there’s poor signal!) We then walked up the river to the Tarn. This part of the trail was a bit rocky and muddy in places but well worth the views of the waterfalls along the way. The tarn itself was gorgeous with small “islands” jutting out that you can walk onto for a unique perspective of the surroundings. Would imagine it could get busy on a sunny day though!

Absolutely gorgeous walk up the waterfall and round the lake with amazing views even in the rain. Just don’t forget £5 for 2 hours parking

A lot of tree felling going on.. the warning signs were a bit OTT, but the walk was pleasant. Very easy with lovely views of the lake! Beware of the expensive parking!!

Easy path to follow - a side trip to the waterfalls near the car park is worthwhile. Really nice views all along the trail.

First to Review

Easy going and often quite busy. Bit more of it if you start the walk from the main road car park. Still had our 4, 9&11yo’s around without problem (and bribe of ice cream). Toilets available at the main Tarn Hows car park.
