Rannerdale Knott Walk is a 3.5 mile loop trail located near Cockermouth, Cumbria, England that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.
There is a handy free car park on the approach to the base of Rannerdale. There are several variations to this walk. Normally most people park up and follow the base of the fell. In May there is a lovely little meadow that has a fine collection of Blue bell flowers. In this version, you ascent up Rannerdale Knott then walk along the ridge down into Buttermere. The return leg runs parallel with Crummock water and the road back to the car park. You get a great view of the surrounding fells and you can use this walk as a stage for some of the longer walks of those.
Snow dusting and solid, icy ground on the trail. Really easy to follow trail and amazing views!
